Authentic Masoor Malka Curry Recipe to Try Tonight

Ingredients

  • 200 gms Whole Masoor dal
  • 2 Onions: Finely chopped or sliced
  • 3 Tomatoes: Finely chopped
  • Ginger and Garlic
  • 2 Green Chilies
  • ½ Tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ Tsp Garama Masala Powder
  • Oil or Ghee, Salt and Pepper
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Methods

Step 1:

Wash masoor dal(red lentils) thoroughly with running water 3 to 4 times. If you want, you can also soak them for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 2:

Take a pressure cooker, add the masoor dal, approximately 500 ml of water, ½ teaspoon turmeric, and salt. Cook on a medium-high flame to 3 whistles. After this, let the pressure cooker release its won and then open the cooker and keep the cooked dal aside.

Step 3:

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Once hot, add one teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them turn brown. Add one finely chopped onion, garlic, and green chilies and saute until golden brown. Add two chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.

Step 4:

Now add all the main ingredients: ½ tablespoon of coriander powder, ½ tablespoon of red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon of garam masala. Stir and cook it for 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 5:

Add cooked dal to the prepared sauce with water and simmer the curry for 10 minutes to let the flavour blend in.

Step 6:
