Ingredients
- 1 cup sooji (semolina)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron (optional)
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, and pistachios)
- 1 tbsp raisins
Methods
Step 1
Take a pan, add milk, water, and sugar. Boil it and then add saffron for flavor.
Step 2
Take a heavy-bottomed pan and heat some desi ghee in it. Add sooji and roast it by stirring continuously.
Step 3
Once the sooji is roasted properly add the hot liquid mixture to it. Stir continuously to avoid lumps. Carefully add the hot liquid mixture to the roasted sooji, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Step 4
Add cardamom and let the halwa sit for a while to set all the flavors well.
